Bible Reading: Psalm 4 & 5; Acts 17:18-34
“But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him” Psalms 4:3 (KJV).
God has a purpose for the earth from the beginning. His purpose is to fill it with men created in His image and likeness and for them to fill it and dominate it. That purpose has not changed; despite man’s handing dominion to the devil God Himself brought back man to the original plan through the second Adam – Jesus Christ.
However, the devil is still holding people of the world captive. Only those who have made up their minds to serve God will He keep from the hands of the enemy. There was the case of Elijah and the wicked queen, Jezebel. Elijah thought he was the only one remaining, but God told him in 1 Kings 19:18 (KJV), “Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.”
God answers the cry of the godly, like He did for Elijah when he was challenged by the prophets of Baal. Elijah called down fire from heaven to consume the sacrifice he set up, a sign to show that God hears the godly when they call. He answered other godly people who were pursued by the enemy back then. He still does today. He is the same forever.
To be one of those He hears when you call, Psalm 4:5 (NKJV) says, “offer the sacrifice of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.” Righteousness comes from God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Accept Jesus today and be sure God will hear you when you call.
