Bible Reading: Psalm 20, 21 & 22; Acts 21:1-19
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (KJV).
I used to think that as a believer everything will go on smoothly in life. But now I know better. Although God has ordained things to go on smoothly, His plan hasn’t changed, there is a contention out there to thwart God’s plan.
Man has always been in the midst of this battle, especially a righteous man. 1 John 5:19 (NLT) says, “We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one.” As one makes up his mind to serve God, the devil and his demons lose a soul. They do everything possible to draw that person back into their fold. But God comes to our side like He did for the Israelites in Egypt.
When Israel accepted to serve the one true God that Moses told them of, God began His defence on them from that day on. He dealt with Pharoah, the Egyptians, and their gods. God will not leave you until you are rescued completely. When the disciples called on Jesus when faced with a terrible storm on the sea, He rescued them. God still rescues people today from trouble.
He rescued David from so many troubles. He rescued him from the hands of jealous king Saul who pursued David for many years. He protected him from the hands of other nations and kings who do not worship God. David survived so many battles and troubles. No wonder he offers prayers to God about the warfare of His people in Psalm 20:1-2 (GOODNEWS), ” May the LORD answer you in trouble! May the God of Jacob protect you! May He send you help from his Temple and give you aid from Mount Zion.”
All we need to do is call on Him today. If you are already His, continue to call on Him. He will always show up.
