Bible Reading: Psalm 43, 44 & 45; Acts 27:23-44
“Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” Hebrews 1:14 (KJV)
The angels of God are spiritual personalities with physical impact here on earth. They cannot be seen, yet they are all around us doing what God sent them to do – minister to the saints. All through scriptures, angels of God are powerful and excel in strength. They are here to guide God’s people safely into God’s purpose.
An angel went before the Israelites all through their journey from Egypt to the promised land (Exodus 23:20). They went in the strength of this angel defeating bigger and greater nations along the way. An angel strengthened Jacob and changed his name to Israel. Lot and his two daughters escaped destruction by the help of an angel. Gideon got strengthened by an angel. Daniel got saved from a lions den by an angel. And our Lord, Jesus Christ, before and after he was born, needed the ministry of angel who guided Joseph, his earthly father, in a dream to escape the plan of the enemy.
Paul, in today’s bible reading, was in a ship heading to Rome. They encountered a tempestuous wind and could hardly see where they were headed. Fear made all in the ship to abstain from food for many days. But Paul, in the midst of them said, “.. I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship. For there stood by me this night the Angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, saying, Fear not Paul… and lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee” Acts 27:22-24 (KJV). I could imagine the kind of hope such a message had brought to the men.
God’s angels are still with us and around us today. Just as they strengthened Paul in the midst of a hopeless situation, they are still bearing good news and strengthening saints because they excel in strength (Psalm 103:20). But like Paul, you must be careful to know the kind of Angel for Paul said, “The angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve.” Remember, there are fallen angels of the devil too. They don’t excel in strength like God’s, but they can deceive people, like their master.
Prayer: Father, thank You for angelic presence and manifestation around me.
