Bible Reading: Psalm 100, 101 & 102; 1 Corinthians 1
“Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?” 1 Corinthians 1:13 (KJV)
The unity in church is one area the devil is seriously attacking in this end time. Sadly, a lot of believers are still falling for the same old tricks and manipulation of the devil and his agents against the church of Christ. The devil knows the importance of being in unity. The disciples were praying in one accord in the upper room when the Holy Ghost came. This took the church to a new level.
The devil is very old in this world and full of tricks. If you are ignorant of his devices he takes advantage of you (2 Corinthians 2:11). You may be full of spiritual gift, yet be manipulated by the devil if you are not careful. You must know how Satan operates, especially when believers unity is threatened. The Corinthian church was divided according to who preached to them; whether Paul or Apollos, or even to Christ.
Churches today face same issue. A lot of people say members love their General Overseer (G.O) more than Christ. Others are more closer to some pastors more than their G.O or even Christ. This division is of the devil. The G.O is of Christ, so are the pastors under him. And others who say they are of Christ refuse to submit to spiritual authority. Paul reminded all that Christ is not divided, but all are and must be in Christ.
Pastors and General Overseers must do well to continually point and direct their members to Christ. Some members have been so blessed by the ministry of these men used by God to change their lives so much that they almost worship them. Men of God must do well to direct these believers to God, the doer, immediately they notice such. If they don’t, the devil takes advantage of such lapses.
As we continue to be patient with one another and in one mind, the church will be filled with mature believers.
