Bible Reading: Psalm 107, 108 & 109; 1 Corinthians 4
“O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good” Psalm 107:1a (KJV).
There are many reasons why we must give thanks to God continually. One of these, among others, is His goodness towards us. He specializes in doing good. James 1:17 (KJV) says “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above…” They come from God.
We give Him thanks for the gift of life. Out of His love and goodness He created us to fellowship with Him. Psalm 150:6 (NLT) says, “Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord.” Praise, here, is giving thanks to Him that gave us life. As long as that breath of His is still in you, give Him thanks.
We give Him thanks for setting us free from the hold of the enemy. Psalm 107:2 (NLT) says, “Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.” King David gave God thanks by speaking out how God has continually saved him from the hands of his enemies. We have been saved through Jesus Christ from the stranglehold of the enemy. By our speaking out our freedom in thanks and appreciation, only then can we truly remain free.
God never leaves what He started unfinished. He brought out the Israelites from the enemy’s hand and stayed with them till they got to the promised land. They provoked Him time and again, but He never left them alone. God will remain with you especially as you continue to give Him thanks. David gave Him thanks all through his life, no wonder God was with him till the end.
Action Plan: Give God thanks for everything that concerns you, and around you. Make it a habit for the rest of your life.
