Bible Reading: Psalm 110, 111 & 112; 1 Corinthians 5
“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleaness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:” Colossians 3:5 (KJV)
God’s commandments to man are for our good. We may not immediately understand the reason why He gave us such commands but when we keep them, there is joy and peace that follows, and eventually, an understanding as to why we must keep such laws. We have been repeatedly warned to flee sexual immorality.
Sexual immorality refers to sexual activity between people who are not scripturally married to each other. It includes sexual activity between people of the same gender and sex between humans and animals. Paul warned the Corinthian church not to associate with people who indulge in sexual sin in the church (1 Corinthians 5:9-10). God commands His people in Leviticus 11:45b, “ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.”
The consequences that follow the action of disobeying God’s commands are usually dire. You dont have to experience these. Just obey God. Follow the example of His Son; Jesus obeyed all He was instructed to do. The bible said He learned obedience by the things He suffered (Hebrews 5:8). Following God’s instructions and ways are for our own good.
We will look at the consequences of indulging in sexual immorality, people who were affected during bible times and the situation in our day. And moreso, the reason why we must keep Gods commands on sexual laws.
