Bible Reading: Psalm 120, 121 & 122; 1 Corinthians 9
“My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and the earth” Psalm 121:2 (KJV).
Every man on earth need help. No matter how rich or powerful a man is, he needs help. In every area or works of life we encounter trouble or challenges. So, we need help to scale through. Although God wants us to always come to Him, He never causes us trouble in life. We are the cause of our challenges in life. Especially in our not looking up to Him for help.
Not even kings could help when trouble comes. A king in Israel was besieged by a woman for help during a severe famine caused by an enemy country. But the king retorted, “…if the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee..” 2 Kings 6:27 (KJV). Only through God’s help was the city of Samaria saved.
God wants to direct us. Jeremiah 10:23b (KJV) says, “it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” God made it that way so that we can always come to Him, who created us for a purpose, to walk in that purpose. Those who try to do it all on their own without seeking help from God fall into trouble. Proverb 14:12 (GOODNEWS) says, “What you think is the right road may lead to death.” Isaac had this in mind when he believed God’s word and remained in the land where there was famine. He was eventually lifted by God even above the nation where he was a stranger (Genesis 26).
King David became a successful king by the help of God. Even when he was pursued for years by King Saul, God’s help and leading saw him through. If a king is after you, then the whole nation is after you. You become the enemy of the state. Only a man with God’s help can survive that ordeal.
Seek for His help in all areas or walks of life. HE is more than willing to help. Acknowlege Him in all you do and He will direct you. Never trust in man for God dislikes it when you trust in man for help instead of Him (Jeremiah 17:5).
Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your constant help in all my endeavours. Grace to continue to aknowlege You in all I do.
