Bible Reading: Psalm 123, 124 & 125; 1 Corinthians 10:1-16
“Therefore, let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall” 1 Corinthians 10:12 (KJV).
Our God is a merciful God. He is quick to forgive sins and receiving those who repent into His kingdom. With patience He teaches us the new ways we must live as representatives of His kingdom. Our thinking changes overtime and we get transformed into the image of His Son Jesus Christ.
As new creatures, we are expected to continually forsake those things we used to do back then in the world. God has not changed, He still hates sin and desires the sinner to repent. It is sad, however, to see believers go back on things they have forsaken. Most Christians tend to hang around things or places they shouldn’t be. They believe once a person is saved he is saved for life. But the bible advised us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12).
The Israelites learnt this lesson in a hard way. After coming out of Egypt, on their way to the promised land, they mixed with a lot of people and ended up taking up behaviours that God hates. As a result, many were destroyed. The same God that came down hard on their enemies descended on them too. Once saved may not always remain saved if one continues to engage in sin. Don’t take God’s word lightly.
Whatever you do and wherever you go, ask God for grace to always be conscious of Him and His Word. As you walk with God in your mind constantly, it will be very difficult for you to fall out of the way of God.
