BIBLE READING: PSALM 135, 136; 1 CORINTHIANS 12
“O Give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: For his mercy endureth for ever” Psalm 136:1 (KJV)
Mercy is one of the attributes of God that we enjoy. His mercy is beyond human understanding. It is both enduring and enriching. God’s mercy gives hope to all humanity. Redemption and forgiveness of sin are expressions of the mercies of God. His mercy both saves and preserves.
Forgiveness of sin, cleaning from sin, pardon and justification of man are all benefits of God’s mercy. Compassion, deliverance, healing and all blessings received from God are all expression of God’s mercy. In his mercy he stayed the judgement man deserved and offered salvation and forgiveness. Man deserved to die but mercy said no to death and offered eternal life in place of death. God’s mercy is an extension of his core nature. It expresses itself in forgiveness, patience, and long suffering.
God’s mercy gives man the grace to forgive even seventy times seven times and beyond because his mercy endures forever. His mercy grants us pardon and gives us a new beginning and hope of eternal life with the father.
God willingly offers this mercy to every repentant sinner to come into his family. In his mercy, he keeps sinners alive with the hope that his goodness will lead to their repentance.
PRAYER: Father, thank you for your mercy that saved me.
