BIBLE READING: PSALM 140, 141, 142; 1 CORINTHIANS 14:1-20
“Brethren, be not children in understanding: Howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men” 1 Corinthians 14:20(KJV)
One’s ability to harness the mind and the entire soul leads to maturity. No one is born matured. Everyone is born as baby and so lacking the knowledge and wisdom to handle affairs of life. There is the need for spiritual, physical and mental growth.
However, children have some virtues that people need to imbibe at adulthood.
In the above scripture we are told to be children in malice. That is a childlike virtue everyone needs to grow. Children easily forgive and walk pass offence without keeping grudges. In their childlike nature, they do not keep record of hurts but adults do; hence they keep malice.
As one begins to grow into maturity, he begins to harness the mind to learn to forgive and let go. There is a weakness which is obvious in children, they lack understanding. This lack of understanding often make children so gullible, always calling for attention, lacking discernment. As one commits to growth and knowledge and understanding, one becomes more matured to handle issues of life.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, lead me to maturity.
