“And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.” – Leviticus 10:1(KJV)
Today’s bible reading tells us about the two sons of Aaron who are of the priestly order that offered strange fire upon the altar which God did not command them to do. The sin of Nadab and Abihu was in acting in the things of God without seeking the mind of God. This is will worship as stated in Colossians 2:23(KJV) ” Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.” Will worship runs contrary to divine instruction and many men of God and Christians has gone astray and departed from faith by this subtle deception of the enemy. It comes with some element of human wisdom and some measure of humility, but the question is did God command it. Whatever God did not command He will not back it with His eternal resources. Whatever is not of God will never stand the test of time. The scriptures admonishes us in Colossians 2:18(KJV) “Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by fleshly mind.” It is wisdom to work in line with divine instruction. In Psalm 25:9(KJV) the bible says ” The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way” The bible says in Proverb 23:23 “Buy the truth, and do not sell it, also wisdom and instruction and understanding.
Let us workout our salvation with fear and trembling because the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.
Prayer: Father, help me to follow your instruction and not puffed up by my fleshly mind. In Jesus Name
