BIBLE READING: SONG OF SOLOMON 4, 5; GALATIANS 3
“I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him, I called him, but he gave me no answer” Song of Solomon 5:6 (KJV).
How and when one responds to God is so important. God in his love and mercy will always extend his gracious hand to save sinners or to fellowship with the saints.
Unfortunately, most people are either entangled with their own affairs or are tied down by mundane pursuit and pleasure.
Procrastination or delayed response often robs most people of the blessings of God. People put off response either by disobedience, rebellion or delay.
We often think in terms of our convenience or comfort forgetting that issues that have to do with one’s destiny should not be trivialized. It is a costly joke to ignore God’s dealings or to reject his invitation for any reason. The pursuit of God should be our first priority in life. There is no better time to respond to God than now. “While it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation” Hebrews 3:15 (KJV). God calls us through his word or the promptings of the Holy Spirit. He keeps reaching out to the sinner to offer him salvation and to the saints for fellowship. Unfortunately, we become too busy for God by yielding to things or people that often place a demand on our time and seek our attention.
The cares of this life, lust of the flesh and deceitfulness of riches are some reasons while most people miss God. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” Matthew 6:33 (KJV).
PRAYER: Lord, help me to prioritize you always.
