BIBLE READING: ISAIAH 3, 4; GALATIANS 6
“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the Spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted” Galatians 6:1 (KJV).
God is in the business of restoring people back to Himself and to the right track. The need for restoration arose as a result of the fall. When man sinned, he fell from his former estate to a sorry state. Man, made in God’s image after His likeness, lost everything.
Man lost his relationship with God, he lost his fellowship, and he lost his access and the glory of God that clothed him. Man became naked and void of glory. God, in his love and mercy, initiated the process of restoration to bring man back to himself.
Even with believers, the tendency to sin or to disobey God and so fall out of fellowship with God is still there, hence there is the need for restoration to maintain the path. Fellowship, health, wealth, peace, joy and dominion need to be restored.
Sometimes, we need other people to assist or lead us through the process of restoration when we are out of touch with God or carried away by the pleasure of sin or sinful desires. The word of God admonishes us to restore others when they fall or when they are overtaken in a fault. We can restore them by sharing the word of God to help them see where they have gone wrong. We can also do this by praying or interceding for them. We are not to judge, condemn or ridicule people when they fall but to love and restore them. This, however, must be done with a sense of responsibility, considering ourselves so we do not become victim of sin or their weakness.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to lift those who are down in Jesus name.
