Bible Reading: Isaiah 43 & 44: 1 Thessalonians 2
“That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory” 1 Thessalonians 2:12 (KJV).
How do we walk worthy of God? By living our lives totally submitted to His will and submissive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Walking worthy of God entails living daily by divine injunction, practicing and obeying His commandments, instructions and admonition in our daily living. Having the fear of God in everything we do. Studying the Word of God for daily renewal. Apostle Paul in Romans 12:1-2 (KJV) states as follows, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
This is a succinct summary of walking worthy of God. It involves carrying our cross as Christians daily, while witnessing for Christ verbally and by our actions and deeds towards our fellowman. Walking worthy of God requires the meditative study and observing of God’s word. “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” Joshua 1:8 (KJV).
Walking worthy of God entails transformation via mind renewal and the approval of God. “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV). Walking worthy of God suggest developing in faith through the intake of the word of God (Romans 10:17).
Walking worthy of God requires living by and for the truth. Walking worthy of God is having our conscience free from offences and other negative encumbrances. “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men” Acts 24:16 (KJV).
My dear reader, you cannot walk worthy of God without having accepted Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and Saviour. I therefore beseech you to make haste and accept Him in order to receive the approval of God on your life.
Prayer: Father teach me to be humble to study and meditate on your word for my life victories in you.
