DAILY BIBLE READING: Jeremiah 24, 25, 26; Titus 2
“Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD’S house, and speak to unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD’S house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word” Jeremiah 26:1-2 (KJV).
The sanity of the society perhaps would have been realised if the word of the LORD which possesses the purifying value is always being given the way it is received from the Lord by the custodian of this word. Vices in the society, gross disobedience and lawlessness that pervade our daily lives would have abated but for the lack of the transforming, redemptive word which has been substituted with soothing words by the custodian of this trust.
Jeremiah, the prophet, was called by God in order that His mind might be made known to the people of his time. At the beginning of his commission, God told him, “But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak” Jeremiah 1:7 (KJV). The instruction was clear to him at the outset of his ministry. This assignment was religiously held on to by this God’s mouth piece, Jeremiah.
So, in the days of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, the word of God came to Jeremiah. When the word came, God emphatically warned him not to remove any bit from it. This is the way New Living Translation puts it: “This is what the Lord says: Stand in the courtyard in front of the Temple of the Lord, and make an announcement to the people who have come there to worship from all over Judah. Give them my entire message: include every word” Jeremiah 26:2 (NLT).
The above is the same God is sending to all Pastors, Teachers, Prophets, Evangelists of all time. Position yourself at the place where your voice would be clearly heard and give the word of warning to the people. Deliver everything God has given to you and never hold anything back. Warn people from the impending danger coming upon the world. Warn them about their indifference to the Word of God. Warn them over everything that is not in line with the Word of God in their lives. Never worry over what they would do to you. Jesus Christ gave the word of His Father to His disciples, we must never do less. Hear what the Scripture says “For I have given them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them,…” (John 17:8 NKJV)
When the Word of the LORD comes to you as an individual do you have positive attitude towards it or you rebuff it immediately you receive it? Please note that, nothing, including your attitude, changes the eternal word of life. May God grant you grace to deliver as received and may He also grant you grace to receive and abide by it in Jesus Christ name.
Prayer: Dear Father, help me not to hold back the truth of the Word to my audience and grant me grace to receive and amend whenever the Word is sent to me in Jesus Christ name.
