DAILY BIBLE READING: Jeremiah 33, 34; Hebrews 1

“Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying” Jeremiah 33:1 (KJV).

The call that God gave to Jeremiah was such that he could be His mouth piece anywhere, every time. The call was filled with all forms of persecution and discouraging moments but the man of God stood throughout and weathered the storm. The word that frequently came to him was that the people of Judah should graciously surrender themselves to the Chaldeans and this did not go down well with them. They protested it seriously and this earned them severe punishment and prison respectively. In one of the moments of dealing with him, he was imprisoned but the word of God which cannot be bound still located him. Paul, in his testimony gave, said, “Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evildoer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound” 2 Timothy 2:9 (KJV).

There is nothing in the entire universe that can bind the word of God. Jeremiah was imprisoned, yet the word of God went to him. Paul was jailed yet the word of God went to him and the same word through him and out to several people in his days and this is the word we are still benefiting from today. The vivid description the Scripture provides helps us to see where Jeremiah was at that time, “…while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison” (v.1b), God still spoke. Thus we have, “Thus saith the LORD…” V.2. Also, we have in v.4 “For thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel…” V.19 says “And the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, saying, thus saith the LORD…”

God intends to communicate His eternal intention into our hearts if we are not absorbed with what is currently plaguing us. There is a place where His word cannot come to us if we are interested in becoming a blessing to our generation. God through Jeremiah told him that, the people of Judah should call to Him and He has mysteries to reveal to them. He further let them know that He was behind their misery by hiding His face from them. He did not leave them in that miserable situation, He let them know that, He will cure them and grant them abundance of peace and truth vv. 6-7. He told them that His covenant remains unbroken with them v.19-20

It is good to know that no matter the current situation you are, God is still willing to reveal His mind to you. I encourage you not to relent in your willingness to receive from Him. Nothing can hinder His word from coming to you. You alone can do that when you shut your heart and mind completely from Him. No force in the entire universe can prevent God from speaking to His people. You may be bound at the moment by one circumstance or the other but do not close your heart. God still wants His counsel to be made known to you upon which your entire life can be built.

Christ, the Master never wants you to grope in the darkness of life no matter what! He wants the entire secret of heaven to be divulged to you as He spoke to our father by the prophets if only you can get into the flow of His covenant relationship. Until His word is revealed to you, you cannot enjoy His prosperity.

Prayer: God, I know Your word is eternal, please make Your mind known to me irrespective of what I am passing through in Jesus Christ name.
