DAILY BIBLE READING: Ezekiel 33, 34; 1 Peter 5
“And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.” Ezekiel 34:26 (KJV)
We know the popular Hymnal “Showers of Blessing” today, we lay claim to that beautiful promise so beautifully written in 1840 by Daniel Webster. There shall be showers of blessing! Those are not just the words of a hymnal, but the words of God himself about His people, about you and me. These words are immense and if we can hold on to the words of God in this scripture we can begin to expect these blessings in our life.
The children of God had suffered great injustice in the hands of their leaders, the people whom God had chosen to be a source of blessing to them had become the source of their oppression and they needed help and redemption, and who else to come to their rescue than the Lord Himself. Today, as we consider our lives, we might be like the children of Israel, hence the immeasurable importance of these words to us. They are as relevant and true as they were thousands of years ago.
God comes to the rescue of His people as he has always done through countless ages and as He will do also in your life. We might feel oppressed today, but we can be rest assured that our God will come through for us and that He does not ignore the cries of His children. He promised his children that he will cause the shower to come down and that there will be showers of blessings! In a time when it appears all gloomy, God promises showers.
In the midst of our despair, God promises an out pouring of blessings. We must go beyond singing these words in the pages of the hymnal and screaming them with faith in our hearts as the irrevocable promise of God!
Prayer: Lord, cause that these words will become my reality today and at every point in my life in Jesus Christ name.
