Bible Reading: Daniel 1, 2, 1 John 4
Memory Verse: “Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.” Daniel 2:19 (KJV)
Two years after I gave my life to Christ, an incident happened in my place of work. I was working in a bank then and the Central Bank of Nigeria suspended our foreign exchange license. This had terrible negative impact on our business that we were afraid the bank would collapse. We were unable to meet our obligations as they were falling due and the future looked bleak. Then everyone was looking for job and I joined the foray. A few weeks later, I was offered a job to manage another bank going through some turbulence as a result of a different reason. And I wanted to jump at the offer but then went to my Pastor to pray for me and help me seek for the way to go in the circumstance.
A few days after I consulted my Pastor, God spoke to me directly and answered all my questions. He told me to stay in the bank and not take the new offer but should pray for promotion in the bank. Though it did not look right but I obeyed and subsequent events proved that was the best solution at the time. The interesting thing about the situation is that when my pastor saw me one or two weeks after, he told me he had not received an answer to my request that was why he had not gotten back to me. Well, I told him, God had already spoken to me. That incident made an impact in my life that God spoke to me a young Christian on my matter, even before my Pastor!
Well it does not matter how old you are in Christianity if you are obedient to God’s commands, he will be true to his word in your life. In Luke 11:9 (KJV), Jesus said “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” God will answer you particularly if you approach him in faith. Thus Daniel spoke in faith to King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 2:16 (KJV), “Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.”
And God honoured his faith. While he was praying in the night, God answered his prayer through vision! Daniel 2:19 (KJV) says, “Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.”
What are you looking for? What secret do you need from God? Just go to Him in prayer seeking his face in faith and He will answer you in accordance with His word as long as you are persistent and sensitive to the Holy Spirit as your answer may come in any form. In my case related above, God spoke to me audibly the way men speak with each other. In the case of Daniel, it was through vision, in some other cases, it could be by a stilled voice in your heart, or prophecy or even through the word of God. Just be sensitive and you shall receive your answer!
Action Point: Call on God in faith this morning using Luke 11:9 concerning any situation facing you or your neighbour and you shall testify in Jesus name.
