Bible Reading: Hosea 1, 2, 3, 4, Revelation 1.
Memory Verse: “As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.” Hosea 4:7 (KJV)
We serve an Almighty God. He is sovereign such that no one can escape him except he decides to give you more time. He says in Deuteronomy 32:39 (KJV), “See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.” Well we know He can do all things and that’s why we should fear Him always.
There is a man who gave his life to God and made a promise not to have any extra-marital affair. And that if he should have any, God should do to him as he pleased. Then all forms of temptation came his way. Several ladies were virtually throwing themselves at him because he had a very good job and was doing quite well financially. The man was certainly blessed by God as everything appeared to go well for him. Then he almost fell into the trap of one of his lady admirer and was woken up midnight one day by God. He told him He would turn his glory to shame and He would reverse things for him financially, socially and spiritually if he should go ahead with his planned adultery. And he desisted. But according to Matthew 5:28 (KJV), “But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”, the man had committed the adultery by lusting after her and his fortunes turned around and had to be hiding for social events due to the changed financial fortunes. And even spiritually, he lost relevance. He had to go back to God and pleaded for mercy. Nonetheless he went through the challenge for about ten years before things began to change for the better.
Are you toying with sin after you have you pledged to be faithful to God, He can turn your glory to shame just as He can turn your shame to glory! He asserted this in Hosea 4:7 (KJV) “As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.”
Are you going through a shameful process? Please examine yourself to know whether you have sinned against our God so that you can go and seek His face for mercy. May God shine his light on you and restore you in Jesus name. Watch your relationship with God and ensure you keep it jealously to avoid His wrath as He can reverse all your blessings just to bring you back to Himself. No wonder, he says in Mark 14:38 (KJV), “Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.”
Prayer point: Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, let me not cause my glory to turn to shame in Jesus name.
