Bible Reading: Haggai 1; 2, Revelation 17.
Memory Verse: “Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.” Haggai 1:5 (KJV).
In a week’s time we would have crossed to another year, what would you consider to have been your ways in this year as it runs to a close? How have you treated the less priviledged around you ? How have you impacted the lives of those that crossed your path? Can you confidently pray to God to reward you abundantly for all you have done? If all you have done had been recorded secretly and its to be played now for others to see, will you be pleased or wished the land open up to take you in? Haggai 1:5 (KJV) is quite apt, “Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.”
In the office, at home, in all your association with others, it is important to note that God Almighty is watching you and will reward you accordingly. It may not be immediately but he will do it. Are you one of those that keeps procrastinating concerning good works; saying it’s not time for you to help others, to learn a skill, to invest in a project, to support the work of God? It is time you take action rather than waiting for the right time. Do you know whether Jesus will come tomorrow? If he does, what account will you give? What will you tell him that you have achieved with the resources he has made available to you; your time, talents, money and other resources?
God is love and He expects us to show love to others in all our dealings. It is not what people think you are but what you truly are! You may be able to deceive all the people as to the kind of person you are but God cannot be deceived. Galatians 6:7-9 (KJV) says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. [8] For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. [9] And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” There is no need praying for someone who has no food when you have enough food to share but you will not do it. What then are you praying for because a prayer is a request for what is beyond your power. No wonder Apostle James said in James 2:20 (KJV), “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” Please consider your ways in every area of your life and make necessary changes when you can still do so.
Action Point: Today is a gift day, give a gift to someone. It could be your time, your talent shared with others, a material gift or your money. Just make someone smile.
