“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD” Genesis 5:8 (KJV)
Have you ever wondered what it feels like being in the midst of people who don’t share in your belief nor regard God in any way? Anyone who truly wants to serve God must make up his or her mind to do so no matter the situation nor circumstances.
Noah made the choice to be different; he served God in the midst of wicked people and the result is recorded in Genesis 5:8 (KJV), “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” Grace here means that which causes delight or favourable regards toward. God was delighted at Noah’s behaviour and used him to preserve the human race. But two things were seen in Noah.
Firstly, Noah obeys instructions. After the LORD made the decision to destroy the world with water, He gave Noah instructions on how to build the ark and the animals to take in. Noah, who had not seen rain before, nor had he built a ship before obeyed. Genesis 5:22 (KJV) says, “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”
Secondly, Noah was pronounced righteous by God Himself. Genesis 6:1b (KJV), “…for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.” His ways were different from the evil ways of the men on earth. Depravity in the form of violence and sexual lust was all around him, yet he stood firm with God. He was described in verse 6 as a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
Thank God for His Son Jesus, for grace has come to all men. It was not easy for Noah in those days of sin. Now we are in the dispensation of grace. All you need do is accept the saving grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and be empowered by His Spirit to walk in righteousness and obedience all through the rest of your life.
Prayer: Father, I receive and accept the grace to walk with you all the rest of my life in righteousness, holiness and in obedience to your word, the situation and circumstances notwithstanding, in Jesus name.
