“And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake” – Luke 5:6(KJV)
The above scriptures captures the result of obedience. A group of fishermen who returned from a fruitless toil all night without anything to show for their toil cannot be anything but frustrated. In that state of frustration, Simon made his boat available from where Jesus ministered to the people. That was an unusual benevolence on the part of Peter. Peter despite his very frustrated state provided his property for the Lord to use to reach out to the people. God does not and will never owe any man. God must always balance out the account. What have you given to God who gave His son Jesus to die in your stead? Are you holding tightly to the things God gave to you even when he demands it? He gave you your life what have you given Him? Jesus after he has concluded his ministration asked Peter to Launch into the deep. Peter simply obeyed even when that command contradicts all fishing principles. In the deep see they caught nothing, one wonders if it is at the river bank they will catch fish. However the instruction of the Lord is “Launch out into the deep, and let down your net for a draught”. – Luke 5:4(KJV). From this study we can conclude that when we make ourselves available to God and follow His instructions, which though may seem outside the norm, the result will be a great harvest for us. The bible said “And when they had this done…”, when they obeyed, there was a great inclosure of fishes. Making ourselves available for God to use and obeying His instruction will result in a great harvest. It is therefore necessary for us to follow the example of Simon in our dealings with God.
Prayer: Father grant me the grace to make myself available to you and to obey your instruction. In Jesus Name.
