Bible Reading: Exodus 14,15; Matthew 17
“While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” Matthew 17:5 (KJV)
The account of the transfiguration of Jesus Christ revealed something very important to us. If you desire to please God you must listen to or hear His Son, Jesus Christ. This is so because God has given all authority and power unto him, not for His own use, but on our behalf to bring us into same level or status that He has attained.
Many believers are struggling today because they do not know what they need. We need the word of God first in our life. The same word that created the world will create our own world too if we care to give it the attention it deserves. The boisterous wind which troubled the disciples’ boat recognised Jesus’ presence and ceased; He even walked on the sea! (Matthew 14:24-32).
Do you noticed that demons always listen to Jesus whenever He speaks? Matthew 17:18 (KJV) says, “And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.” Before that encounter with Jesus the father of the demon-possessed boy said the demon throws the lad into the fire and water. But Jesus’ word and presence sent that demon packing. As you continue to listen to Jesus, His Spirit will enter into you to give you command over everything (Ezekiel 2:2).
What is that thing that is proving too difficult for you to overcome? The bible says in Philippians 2:10 (KJV), “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.” You have the world at your disposal for Jesus is now in you; so you have a hope of glory, not struggle.
God has given you all things that pertains to life and godliness in this world through listening to and taking in knowledge of His Son, Jesus Christ. To please God, come to Jesus today and all things will begin to respond to you, for as He is so are we in this world (1 John 4:17).
Prayer: Father, I thank You for giving me all I need in this life. I ask for grace to listen more attentively to Your Son, Jesus Christ.
