BIBLE READING: LEVITICUS 4, 5; MATTHEW 24:27-51
“Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when he cometh shall find so doing” Matthew 24:46 (KJV).
As Christians, we are called not only to enjoy the benefits of father-son relationship but also to serve in the kingdom. Salvation brings us into sonship positions but as sons, we willingly assume the servant office to serve with sonship spirit. You often hear Paul address himself as a servant of the Lord. This is the highest position of kingdom responsibility.
However, it is not forced servanthood but love-slaves of Christ. It is a realization that we live for him because he died for us. In this service, faithfulness is required. It comes with an understanding of accountability and reward. The scriptures show a picture of some servants who will see the delay in the coming of the Lord as opportunity to sleep. Some could begin to fight themselves, some could get discouraged while some will lose focus of the kingdom mandate and become engrossed with the affairs of this life.
Responsible and committed servants will remain committed to their life assignment, preaching the gospel and doing the work of the master.
The master’s command is occupy till I come.
Prayer: Lord, help me to occupy till you come.
