BIBLE READING: NUMBERS 5, 6; MARK 4:1-20
“The sower soweth the word” Mark 4:14 (KJV).
The word of God is a powerful seed that if received by faith can lead to salvation of souls. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. As we preach the gospel in season and out of season, opportunity is given to sinners to receive salvation.
Believers in Christ are commanded and mandated to preach the gospel to every sinner. Sometimes, there could be quick and immediate response as the Holy Spirit brings conviction through the seed of the word sown. In some instances, there may not be any immediate response but once the seed is sown by the preacher, the Holy Spirit finds material to work with to bring salvation to the hearer.
The seed as powerful as it is needs fertile soil to produce. The seed that falls on stones, by the way side or among thorns have no guarantee of bearing fruit. The soil represents the heart, the receptivity, faith and teachability. Whenever the seed of God’s word finds fertile soil, it will take root downward and bear fruit upward. Every seed of the gospel has the potential to produce salvation and transformation.
Prayer: Thank you Jesus for the seed of the gospel that saves souls.
