Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 17,18,19. Mark: 13:1-19
“For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many” Mark 13:6 (KJV).
Christ foretold all that shall take place before His second coming. Our above scripture of today is profound among the events so stated. Since the death and resurrection of Christ a lot of persons bearing tag of anti-Christ have come and gone, leaving behind a lot of deceived folks. We have heard and witnessed many self-proclaimed messiahs who deceived and commanded great followers. They appear in the scene and render their nefarious doctrine with great eloquence, performed miracles and after sometime will fizzle out of the scene. However, one thing to note is that the second coming of Christ will have a spectacular and unforgettable impact on the entire world. His coming will not be heralded from one corner of the earth. His coming shall be seen and heard all over the earth. It will be gloriously announced that it cannot be missed.
All the events mentioned in Mark chapter thirteen are prophetic statement of events preceding His coming. The scriptures say in 1 Thessalonians 4:16 (KJV) “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:” The actions and events doesn’t seem to be what will take place in a corner of the earth. Our knowledge of the scriptures will help us to overcome and shut down the blasphemous doctrine of the anti-Christ when they rear their heads.
We must, of a necessity, be acquainted with the scriptures, that is the only way we can survive the tirades of satanic doctrines that shall invade the earth in this last days. We must as Christians be adequately equipped and prepared to confront them. We must not dwell in the realm of anxiousness but in the place of knowledge of the truth. Jesus Christ referred to these terrible activities as beginning of sorrows (Matthew 24:8). The scriptures say “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold” Matthew 24:12(KJV).
Nearly, if not all, that was spoken about in Mark chapter thirteen and Matthew chapter twenty-four have or are taking place. We are witnesses to some. The fact that they are happening does not mean that Christ will come from one end of the earth. The coming of Christ will carry universal announcement and it will be a global phenomenon that will not leave anyone in doubt, “For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west: so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Matthew 24:27(KJV)
My dear reader, I admonish you to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” The only way to avoid being victim of false doctrine and its catastrophic effect is to surrender your life to Christ and study the scriptures.
Prayer: Father I ask that you equip me by the Holy Ghost to remain diligent in my study of the scriptures.
