“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him”. 2 Corinthians 5:21(KJV)
Our sins were imputed on Christ and his righteousness he endow us with. The Law placed the demand for righteousness on us but grace through Jesus Christ endowed us with righteousness. We are the recipients of his righteousness. He took the pains of the punishment of our sin and gave us the blessedness of his love in exchange. No wonder the scripture says in Hebrews 12:2a “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith……..”. What a wonderful savior! What a loving father!! The scriptures says in Romans 3:21-22(KJV)“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference”. Christ death was substitutional, that is, the just taking the place of the unjust in other to justify the unjust. At cavalry Christ consummated our salvation and went further to endow us with his righteousness. If he paid the price of our sins we should enjoy the benefits of his righteousness.
The scriptures stated in 2 Peter 1:3(KJV) “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”. The redemption package Christ provided for us is all inclusive. We must take full advantage of its benefit which include righteous living.
