Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 6; 7; 8; Luke 15: 1-16.
Memory Verse: “Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” Luke 15:10 (KJV)
All unbelievers are referred to as lost sheep that must be found. And looking at the parable of the lost sheep narrated by the Lord Jesus in Luke 15:4-7, a good shephered will go in search of his lost sheep and rejoice significantly when that sheep is found. So does heaven rejoice when a non-believer repents of his sin and gives his life to Christ. Luke 15:10 (KJV), “Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.”
This underlies the importance of winning souls to God. The bible refers to anyone who wins souls to Christ as wise. Proverbs 11:30 (KJV) says, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” To further show how critical this is, John 15:16 (KJV) further states, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”
Jesus showed us that the panacea to all unanswered prayers is winning of souls. It is therefore important that everyone should take finding of lost sheep very seriously. But before you embark on this, it’s critical you recognise that you should always pray and seek the help of the Holy Ghost to touch the hearts of the non-believers you will be preaching the gospel to and that He should also direct your steps to those he has prepared for repentance. While at the field, your experience as a Christian is also quite handy and you should try as much as possible to share this with your audience. They can resonate more quickly with such experiences.
When the person has been won to Christ, it’s important to follow him up to ensure he studies the word of God and attends a bible believing church so that he may be well grounded in the word of God. Also prayers need to be made continuously for such converts as the devil will not just fold his arms losing those he had under his bondage. Finally, it’s important that you as a believer needs to constantly examine yourself that you are living in obedience to the word because people look more at the behaviour of believers than just their preaching. Besides its important that you are not a mere sign post that point direction to others and never go to the destination. May you end well and strong in Jesus name.
Prayer: Father, grant me the grace to win souls unto your kingdom continuously in Jesus name.
