Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 9; 10; 11 Luke 15:17-32.
Memory Verse: “So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king’s table; and was lame on both his feet.” 2 Samuel 9:13 (KJV)
Ziba was a servant to Saul, the grand father of Mephiboseth but he did not care about his master’s grandson ( 2 Samuel 9:1-4). Apparently he took over the assets of his master and sat on it because the master was dead. Though the grandson of Saul, Mephiboseth was alive, the fact that he was lame on both feet limited him and made him confined to Lodebar! ( 2 Samuel 9:4)
However, when the day of blessing of Mephiboseth came, he was fished out from where he had been hidden and all that had been lost by him were restored. He even got more as the king asked him to eat bread on his table continuously. 2 Samuel 9:13 (KJV) says, “So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king’s table; and was lame on both his feet.”
What have you lost or what is your current shameful position that you think you may not be able to recover, look at the case of Mephiboseth and recognise that God can restore anyone at anytime provided you meet the conditions for such restoration. Those conditions include honouring God. This implies putting God first in all you do. John 5:23 (KJV) affirms, “That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.” And God has said he would honour those that honour him and lightly esteem those that despise him ( 1 Samuel 2:30).
Secondly, you do not avenge yourself. If anyone put you in that position or has hurt you, hand the person over to God and let Him avenge you. He will certainly give you justice at the right time and in the right dosage! Furthermore remain faithful to God and live a life of holiness no matter the circumstance. Obadiah 1:17 (KJV), “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.”
Yes, quite a lot has been lost in the past few months particularly due to, COVID 19, ENDSARS and aftermath effects, but do not write yourself off no matter the circumstance because God has not written you off. You will recover all you have lost in Jesus name.
Prayer: Father, let me recover speedily, all that I have lost in the past in the mighty name of Jesus.
