“A sower went out to sow his seed………,: Now the parable is this : the seed is the word of God”. – Luke 8:5a, 11(KJV)
In this parable of the sower we have four set of hearers namely:-
The wayside hearers.
On the rock hearers.
Among thorns hearers.
The good ground hearers.
There is need for us to be able to place ourselves in one of this group. We should do a thorough study to be able to actually determine where we belong in this grouping.
Have you once heard the word of God, believed but not too long the word you heard was removed from you by the devil either through bad company or through the convincing power of a more eloquent person of the side of the divide? Are you among those who believed but had no root because the word of God was lacking and so could not stand temptation? Do you belong to them who believed but not too long the word was choked with the cares, riches and pleasures of this life? Do you belong to them who in a honest and good heart heard the word of God kept it and brought forth fruits with patience? We sincerely have to consider how and what we do with the word of God. The bible says concerning the word of God in Psalm 119:105(KJV) “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my part”. The word of God is God. God’s word leads and direct us rightly. The word of God is God’s manual for man to enable him navigate properly through the terrain of life. The scriptures also says concerning the word “The entrance of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple”. – Psalm 119:130(NKJV). The word produces understanding to the recipient. The bible says in Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing assunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”. We need the power of the word of God to survive in this perilous times.
Prayers: Father grant me the grace for effective study of your word. In Jesus Name.
