Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 21, 22, Luke 18:23-43.
Memory Verse: “Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.” Luke 18:41 (KJV)
Deuteronomy 30:19 (KJV) says, “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:” God has given us the freedom of choice and expects us to make the right choice. Sometimes people intentionally make the wrong choice. For example, a woman was sick and everything was done to make her whole to no avail. She was then taken to a man of God for prayer. There the man also saw that everytime he laid hand on her, the anointing flows to his fingers and then return back to his body. So he went back to Pray to God and sought his face why the anointing was not flowing to the woman. Then God told him to ask the woman if she wanted to be healed. Surprisingly, when asked, the woman said she did not want to be healed because her husband was always with her whenever she was ill but anytime she was whole, the man never came back home on time!
So a man’s meat is another’s poison, hence the need for each person to ask God directly what he wanted. This is why Jesus responded to the blind man in Luke 18:41 (KJV), “Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.” In response to this request, Jesus restored his sight.
God expects us to make specific request to Him to reflect the choice we have made. Secondly, asking Him reflects your faith in Him to meet your request. Thirdly, such request shows your belief in God as being a superior force and lastly, it is a command from God. The bible says in John 16:24 (KJV), “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”
It is imperative that your asking must be in the name of Jesus Christ to receive the desired result. John 14:14 (KJV), says “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” So it is important to ask God for your needs and also make such request through the proper channel which is in the name of Jesus Christ
Action Point: Ask God for your needs in the name of Jesus Christ.
