…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 29/04/2021

Bible Reading: 1 Kings 6, 7, Luke 20: 25-48.

Memory Verse: “David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?” Luke 20:44 KJV.

Jesus Christ’s lineage to David and Abraham is traced in the first chapter of Matthew. And so, Jesus Christ is generally referred to as the son of David. Thus blind Bartimeux, in Mark 10:47 cried out to him saying, Thou son of David have mercy on me. And David wrote in Psalm 110:1 (KJV), “The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.” Jesus then asked the religious people of the time in Luke 20:44 (KJV), “David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?” This question is to point the Sadducees to the godliness of Jesus Christ.

John 1:1-4 (KJV) says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” And John 1:14 further stated that the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. The word is Jesus Christ. He came to the world in the flesh to lay his life for us. Thus Jesus Christ, the son of God came to the earth as man to lay down his life for us to carry away all our sins. This is why any one who wants to be reconciled to God has to go through Jesus Christ, the only son of God. The bible says in Luke 9:35 (KJV), “And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.”

Hearing him hear implies obedience and Jesus Christ made it clear that those that believed in him will have everlasting life. John 3:16 (KJV), “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

So it is imperative that everyone that wants to make heaven should accept Jesus into his life as Lord and Saviour, otherwise such a person will perish. It is easy to have Jesus in your life; just make up your mind to forgo your ways of sin and decide to follow him by shunning all sinful ways and obey his word.

Action Point: Pray to God this morning asking that your sins be forgiven and your name be written in the book of life. Promise that you will henceforth obey the word of God and that you have accepted Jesus into your life as your Lord and Saviour.
