Bible Reading: 1 Kings 19,20; Luke 23:1-28
“And behold, there came a prophet unto Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD” 1 Kings 20:13 (KJV)
The God we serve is not only mindful of man as a whole, but especially His own chosen people. All we need do is trust in Him and He will make good His promise to deliver His people. Psalm 125:2 (KJV) says, “As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about His people from henceforth even for ever.”
In our bible reading of today, God again showed that victory is not about numbers or the size of your army, but victory is of the LORD. He does numbers without numbers. When Benhadad the king of Syria gathered his army and laid siege on Samaria with outrageous demands, King Ahab told the messenger, “Tell King Benhadad that a real soldier does his bragging after a battle, not before it” 1 Kings 20:11 (Goodnews). After that Ahab got word from God on who will lead the battle and how they will go about it.
Looking up to God in any area of challenge is key to victory. Psalm 34:5 (KJV) says “they looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.” As we look to Him, answers will come that will take away the shame the enemy had planned against us. King Ahab and Samaria won with a very small army size (Seven thousand) compared to the armies of Syria with thirty-two kings.
Never mind the opposition, look up to God. Your position in Him is what matters. Trust in Him. He never fails. But you must learn to follow Him obediently, like Ahab did. As you follow Him obediently in trust He will take over your battles like He did for David, Gideon, Ahab. He will do same for you.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for taking over all my battles. Lord, I ask for grace to always look up to You and give You glory in the midst of it all.
