Bible Reading: 1 Kings 21,22; Luke 23:29-56
Memory verse ‘’And he said unto him, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise’’ Luke 23:42-43 (KJV)
Everything Jesus did on earth were things His Father sent Him to do. He healed the sick, raised the dead, opened blind eyes, forgave sins, and so much more. These are what our Heavenly Father is doing day after day.
God forgives sins because He does not want any to be destroyed, rather wants all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). We are the works of His Hands and created to give Him glory. No one would want the works of his or her hand to be destroyed. In fact, the bible in Ephesians 2:10a (NLT) says, “For we are God’s masterpiece.’’ This is one of the reasons why God forgives us.
There are so many people who have been written off in life by their fellow humans but Gods mercy repositioned them when they repented. Samson lightly esteemed the gift of God in his life. He was so disrespectful to the call of God upon his life such that the Spirit of God left him (Judges 16:20). But when he repented and called upon the LORD, He heard him and granted his heart desire in line with His Will ( Judges 16:28-30).
Jesus, in today’s bible reading, forgave the sins of the condemned man who showed repentance from his comments. Jesus, being God in human body could see straight from the mans heart. Remember, God gives you according to the ways of your heart (Jeremiah 17:10). The man’s repentance from the heart gave him a place in Paradise.
Never you write off any man because we serve a merciful God who will forgive any who truly repents. Heaven will be full of surprises on the day we meet with Jesus. Repent today and God will forgive you.
Prayer: Father, I ask for forgiveness in any area I am still missing it. Lord, by Your Spirit open my eyes to areas I need to repent of.
