Bible Reading: 2 Kings 7,8,9; John 1:1-26
“Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof” 2 Kings 7:2 (KJV)
The Prophetic is still being used heavily by God today as it was back then in the bible. In fact, we were told, from the bible, that everything written in the bible is for our own learning so that we might have hope. No man can live successfully in this life without a hope for something. The prophetic is one of the bail out instrument God uses to give hope and to set His people free. Hosea 12:12 (KJV) says, “And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.”
Sadly, because of the many who have wrongfully gone into this ministry on their own without the backing of God a lot of people are sceptical about Prophets in our days. In the bible, you will easily tell who a false prophet is when he says “God said” and it didn’t come to pass. However, when it comes to pass such a one is a true prophet. But please note that the fact that there are many false prophets still does not give us the right to look down on the ministry of the prophets and prophetic words. Mocking the prophetic can be costly! Some have paid dearly for such mockeries with their own lives!
Prophets are God’s mouthpiece. Challenging them is challenging God. We are in a time when even Presidents and Kings don’t have answers to the issues challenging humans today. When the King of Syria besieged Samaria such that none could go in or come out, famine came upon them and a woman ran to the King for help. And his response was, “If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee?” 2 Kings 6:27 (KJV). It has not changed today; so many leaders are watching helplessly as their economies are going down by the day.
God rescued Samaria in His own way. He gave His prophet, Elisha the following words, “Hear ye the Word of the LORD; thus, saith the LORD, Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.”2 Kings 7:1 (KJV). The prophet Elisha was mocked by a top government official who was very close to the King. Mocking a prophet is mocking God, because the prophet did not send himself but was sent by God. Elisha told him, “..Thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shall not eat thereof” 2 Kings 7:2b (KJV).
Those who mock the prophetic don’t partake of the blessings and may lose their lives in the process. Never you mock prophets. Ask God for what to do since you have the Spirit of God in you.
Prayer Father, I thank You for the ministry of the prophets and the prophets in our midst today. Lord, I receive grace to be alive to prophetic words like never before.
