Bible Reading: 2 Kings 15,16; John 3:1-18
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16 (KJV)
The account of how God came to the garden during the cool of the day to visit Adam and Eve is one proof of God’s love for man. He desires fellowship from the first human couple, however, the account of Genesis 3:8 emphasizes that man made the first move away from Him by hiding because of their sin before He moved them away from Himself by putting them out of the garden.
But His love was further seen when He told the serpent in Genesis 3:15 (KJV), ‘’And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” He put in motion the plan to destroy Satan through the seed of the woman who would die in place of sinful man. No wonder the bible calls Christ, ’the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.’ God made the move to restore man to His bosom immediately after he obeyed the devil in the garden.
King David could literally see God’s love around him and asked, “what is man that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? Psalms 2:8 (KJV). You never truly appreciate the worth of a soul until you see it from God’s point of view. Jesus made that point clear in today’s memory verse when He said, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Life everlasting is a life in and with God through Jesus Christ. The devil still works intensely to steal, kill and destroy just to prevent man from getting that life.
Jesus is that life. God released His best to get you because He so loved you. He still does. You value is seen in the price paid to get you. That price is the precious blood of Jesus, who knew no sin but became sin for us. What’s your response towards God’s love in Jesus? Accept Jesus today if you haven’t, and continue to take in more and more knowledge of Him to experience the life He has made available for you.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your Son, Jesus Christ. LORD, I ask for grace to grow in knowledge and walk in the reality of the finished work of Jesus in my life.
