Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 7,8,9; John 6:25-48
“Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the works of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent” John 6:29 (KJV)
The bible is a book that contains everything about life. No matter the question there are answers therein for you to work with. Among the questions being asked today is how to go about doing God’s work. This isn’t a new question as Jesus Himself was asked same question by a crowd.
After miraculously feeding them with bread and fish, they wanted more. But Jesus berated them for coming to Him because of food that perishes. He told them to go for food that leads to life everlasting. They asked Him, “what shall we do that we might do the works of God?” John 6:28 (KJV). A lot of people desire to do the works of God but know not how. Jesus Himself who was sent by God to do His works, gave us the answer to this question; “ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”
It might sound so simple but that is where everything that pertains to life comes from. You must start by receiving Him as a person, then taking in the knowledge of Him and our heavenly Father. Only then can more grace be released to know Him more and grow spiritually. The works of God is believing in everything the bible says about Jesus, and as you continue growing in this knowledge He will reveal Himself more to you.
A lot of people today have prioritized activities in Church more than sitting down and learning about Jesus. The works of God must start with receiving, believing and walking with Jesus, and as you grow in your relationship with Him, service in the house of God would be more interesting, enjoyable and rewarding. When service is done in understanding of who you are serving and looking up to, such a one will fare well.
