Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 25,26,27; John 9:1-21
“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world” John 9:5 (KJV)
According to the scriptures in John 1:4-5 (KJV), the bible says, “In him was life; and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shines in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not.” Jesus is the light sent to earth to undo the works of darkness that has come upon the earth. Darkness gained hold of the world when Adam handed authority to the devil. Since then, mankind has been groping in darkness. But by the mercies of God, light came in the person of Jesus Christ.
Darkness is the realm where the devil operates. It is seen in his works in the lives of people. It works well with ignorance, and includes amongst others, all sorts of sicknesses and diseases, to everything that makes life difficult and uncomfortable for God’s beloved man. In fact, it works against God’s original plan for man. Anywhere there is darkness there is no life in it; leaving everything around void or formless, and desolate (Genesis 1:2). But praise God! We now have light in us! The light of God which gives life to man.
Acts 10:38 (KJV) says about Jesus, “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” He came to undo all the works of the devil in people’s lives. No wonder John 1:5 (KJV) says, “the light shines in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not.” Whenever light steps in, darkness checks out automatically; no negotiation or argument. So, you don’t need to remain in that area of struggle. Christ has given us light, which brings abundant life in every area. You must thrive in your health, business, relationships, career, etc. Let Jesus rule your life; as long as Jesus is your Lord no man or devil can determine what happens to you in this world.
That situation is ordained to bring God glory. Jesus pointed out to His disciples that not every unpleasant looking situation is as a result of sin (John 9:2-3), though some of them were as a result of sin (John 5:14), but ultimately to make the works and power of God manifest in man. God’s purpose is to make man become like Jesus. No wonder Jesus sent us the same way the Father sent Him and calls us “the light of the world.”
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your light in me which is Your life. May Your life in me manifest after the order of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and change every situation that is not of your making around me.
