…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 28 & 29; John 17

“I have glorified thee on earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do” John 17:4(KJV)

The above scriptural quote was made by Christ while on earth at the time He was ready to be offered as the sacrificial lamb at Calvary. Jesus can boldly say to His father “I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do” He repeated this assertion at Calvary before He gave up the ghost (John 19:30). Jesus Christ went diligently after His assignment, consistently pursuing the purpose of His coming to the earth. He was very focus on His assignment and continuously made it clear refusing to be distracted. In John 4:34(KJV) “Jesus said unto them, my meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finished it” and at the cross He asserted unequivocally “……It is finished:…….” John 19:30(KJV). This is an attestation to His resolved commitment to His mission and purpose on earth. We are expected to follow after Christ in fulfilling our God given assignment and purpose on earth by “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” Hebrews 12:2(KJV).

How many of us have discovered our God given assignment on earth? When we work in line with divine purpose we will never be stranded. No wonder Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 8:28(KJV) “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to his purpose” When we work in divine purpose all things will work for good for us. When God sends us on any assignment He provide what is needed to fulfil such assignment. What is important is discovering our God given assignment and diligently pursue it. Most of us have allowed the earthly distraction to derail us from our purpose on earth. The world is in turmoil because a greater percentage of humanity are operating outside their assignment. The bible is expected to be our guide in locating our God given assignment. It is also expected to be our instrument of navigation through the earth while diligently pursuing our assignment. This very important tool for success has been abandon and as such humanity is not functioning properly, the result is majority of malfunctioning person producing confusion and negative actions. It is like putting diesel in a car that is supposed to function with petrol. You can imagine the result. Like a manufacturer God gave us the manual for the product He made, we abandon the manual and started producing negative consequences.

It is for this purpose Christ came to redirect us to our God given assignment showing us the way to go. That is why in John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father but by me. It is only when we follow Jesus that we can discover our purpose on earth and He also empowers us to finish well like He did. Hear the testimony of Apostle Paul an ardent follower of Christ, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing” 2 Timothy 4:7-8(KJV).

Prayer: Father give me the grace to finish my assignment on earth well.
