Bible Reading: Ezra 6,7 & 8; John 21
“This Ezra went up from went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him”. Ezra 7:6 (KJV)
Readiness for an assignment is paramount to success in the given assignment. Readiness entails gathering information concerning the assignment, taking out time to study the various personalities who had experience such assignment previously, study the steps they took, knowing God’s involvement in the execution of such assignments and the assignees relationship with God that guaranteed their success. It also appropriate to know the divine promises associated to successful execution of such assignment. When a man is called by God for a particular assignment there must, of a necessity, be a preparation for readiness for the assignment. You can be called by God but not preparing appropriately for the service can result in a wreck. Such an act amount to going before God unprepared. Getting prepared properly is part of the training for any given assignment and amounts to allowing the leading of God. Ezra was said to be a ready scribe in the law of God given through Moses to Israel.
Right from day one of Christ on earth He was ordained for the redemption of humanity but was thirty years old when He went into His earthly ministry. He was led into the wilderness to be tempted of Satan as part of His preparation. We, the followers of Christ, must learn preparedness as a prerequisite to executing divine assignment. 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) says “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth” For your assignment to be effectively executed you must have time for diligent study. Many have been victims of shipwreck in their ministry, not because they were not called by God, but was hasty not to follow after God. Many had gotten to the mountain of power and received power and rushed into the ministry without waiting patiently to receive the cloak of humility from Christ. For your calling to receive God’s signature you must pass through the school of preparedness and be humble to learn from the experience of those who have gone before you. The scripture said Ezra was “a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given.” Our God is the God of order and sequence. Many who claimed today to be called by God missed it because of unpreparedness, and seeing that God is not with them put forth their hand into the iniquitous act of sorcery and occult, thereby deceiving many.
The disciples of Christ received practical teaching on witnessing from Christ while Christ was on earth. They have been sent forth to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God by Christ, but at the point of departure from the earth he instructed them “And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me” Acts 1:4 (KJV)
Prayer: Father give me the grace for patience to wait on you.
