Bible Reading: Psalm 13, 14, 15; Acts 19:21-40.
Memory Verse: “Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?” Psalm 15:1 (KJV).
Tabernacle of God is where God dwells and abiding in that tabernacle means being in the presence of God. Psalm 15:1 (KJV) asks the question “Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?” And this is also answered in the same bible passage. It says it’s those who walk up-rightly i.e. those who walk honestly, honourably at all times. Also you should live a life of holiness by pleasing God all the time. To do this, you need the power of Holy Spirit who will teach and guide you in all you do ( John 14:26) as no man can please the Lord by the power of his flesh.
With the Holy Spirit, you will also be able to speak the truth at all times .
As stated in verse 3 of the same chapter of psalm, you must have control over your tongue. James 3:8 (KJV) says. “But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.” How then can you control it? It’s by the Holy Spirit who will teach you what to do even with your tongue!
To dwell in the tabernacle of God also requires living a life of holiness. Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV) says, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” This is what holiness entails; obedience to the word of God. This will also involve studying the word of God regularly because you cannot obey what you don’t know. That’s why 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) says, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
And then you need to delight God by preaching the gospel. Proverbs 11:30 (KJV), “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” Apostle Paul reiterated the importance of witnessing when he said in 1 Corinthians 9:16 (KJV), “For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!”
For you to be able to do all the functions enumerated above effectively, you need the help of the Holy Spirit. And if you have not received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you can pray for it as stated in Matthew 7:7. Where you are already baptised, then you need to speak in tongues regularly so that you will be further empowered and taught what to do by the Spirit.
Prayer point: Father baptise me afresh with the Holy Spirit today in the name of Jesus Christ.
