Bible Reading: Psalm 43, 44, 45; Acts 27:23-44.
Memory Verse: “And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.” Psalm 45:4 (KJV).
A story was told of a man that wanted an honest successor. So he decided to give a seed of a plant to various candidates to help him nurture for a few months. All of them had growing plants from the seed except one man who said he did all he could but did not get the seed to grow. While every other candidate came with varying level of growing plant, this candidate came with a flower pot completely dry. They were obviously laughing at him. Then the final decision hour came and everybody was ready expecting one of those with the best growth to be chosen. But the man without any plant was the only one chosen. The retiring man said the seed he gave to the candidates had been intentionally killed and so could not have grown! Everyone was surprised but the odd man got the position on account of his truthfulness.
People may laugh at you for your uprightness and may even persecute you but it’s important to remain steadfast. No matter how long, the truth will prevail. The truth represents all of God’s ruling principles underlining all of His creation. God’s truth is His perspective on everything that exists. Great power is unleashed when we understand God’s truths and apply them to our lives. The difference between the Christian and non-Christian is that the Christian has a new heart embracing the Truth – the Lord Jesus Christ.
The challenge of many people is that while truth is revealed to them, they don’t believe and act on it. But as they embrace the truth and discipline their lives to act on the truth in their day to day lives, they fill their lives with the truth and so take decisions in line with the truth. This will also enable them embrace meekness and righteousness and they become like Christ who is featured in Psalm 45:4 (KJV), “And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.”
However if you go back from following the truth, then your heart gets filled with worldly principles and deceit. It is deception that will keep you thinking that you should worry about events and situations, and that it is normal. God’s truth is powerful because it shapes our perspectives and conform our lives to that of Christ!
Prayer point: Father, help me to fill my mind with the truth only and to live a life in total conformity to Christ in Jesus name.
