…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 31/07/2021

Bible Reading: Psalm 54, 55, 56; Romans 3.

Memory Verse: “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” Romans 3:10 KJV.

Righteous means being morally correct and justifiable. In Christianity righteousness is the quality of being right in the eyes of God. This goes beyond maintaining a good relationship with fellow human beings. Thus someone who is generally seen as being good towards others may not be righteous with God. That is why Apostle Paul summarised in Romans 3:10 (KJV), “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” While men look at the outward, God looks at the inward and that’s why Isaiah 64:6 (KJV) says, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”

Even men recognise this difference in perception and that’s why it’s said that not all that glitter are gold. Outward appearance is not always the true reflection of what’s inside. That further explains why prophet Samuel thought of choosing Eliab as the annointed of God when he was asked to anoint a son of Jesse. 1 Samuel 16:6-7 (KJV) says of Samuel; “And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the Lord’s anointed is before him. [7] But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”

The relationship with God has been lost since Adam disobeyed God and obeyed Satan in the garden of Eden ( Genesis 3:17-19). But this has been restored by our Saviour, Jesus Christ such that anyone who accepts Him as Lord and Saviour and obeys His words will have a restored relationship with God. Jesus himself said in John 3:16 (KJV), “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” So the only way to be righteous with God is through his only son, Jesus Christ. This is stated in Romans 3:22 (KJV), “Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:” It’s important you call on Him today and accept Him as your Lord and Saviour so that you can become righteous with God.

Prayer point: Father, everything that will disqualify my righteousness in Your presence, please take far away from me and my household in Jesus name.
