Bible Reading: 63,64,65; Romans 6
“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace” Romans 6:14 (KJV)
The aim of the devil is to use sin to separate us from God. This worked perfectly well on the first man and woman in the garden of Eden. They eventually lost their place through sin and disobedience. However, God restored man to Himself through His Son, Jesus in a most spectacular way. The same sin that caused Adam to lose his place was put on Jesus even though He never sinned. The devil unknowingly thought he had won again but Christ, because He never sinned was brought back to life by the Spirit of Holiness thereby setting man free from sin and of the devil.
By His death and resurrection we were translated to a new realm of life. Colossians 1:13 (KJV) says, “Who hath translated us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.” In His kingdom, where we are now, the devil and sin no longer has power over us. But you must be conscious of this truth and walk in it to achieve results. Your freedom from sin is settled already. As long as you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour you died with Him and your sins buried with Him. Now You are raised to newness of life in Him (Romans 6:3-4).
However, please note that we have a part to play. We must yield ourselves totally to God if we believe in this truth. Romans 6:16 (KJV) says, “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” You have the power to choose who you yield yourself unto. Nobody can choose for you. But choose life for the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
Grace is the ability of God in you through Christ that empowers you to live for God and bring Him glory. Grace is available to all but works in those who are in Christ. God is no longer mad at you but smiles whenever He sees you because He sees Christ in you, the hope of glory. You are free to serve God and do this with all of your heart.
Prayer: Dear Father, I thank You for Your manifest wisdom through Christ that freed me from the power of sin to serve You. Lord I ask for unusual grace to serve You faithfully for the rest of my life.
