Bible Reading: Psalm 110,111,112; 1 Corinthians 5
“Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon the earth, the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever” Psalm 112:1-3 (KJV)
The impact of fear of the LORD in a man goes beyond him but to generations after him. Whatever you do today, do as to God and not unto man for He is the one that rewards all men for their acts and deeds. All our doings today are seeds which will be harvested someday. Do you know that the future of your unborn generations is tied to whatever you do today?
The bible in Proverbs 13:22a (KJV) says, “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children:” A good man is one that fears the LORD. To fear the LORD is to have a deep respect, reverence and awe for God making us to depart from anything contrary to His ways. That means to fear God you must have God’s word in your spirit and let it rule your mind. As this happens, God blesses such a person, not only with wealth, but makes forces possible that will make life easier and colourful for generations from that person.
Abraham was a man that had faith in God and will do anything for God. He so much delighteth in his commandments that whatever God told him to do, he did immediately. He was told to leave his father’s house at 75 years of age and he obeyed immediately; circumcise himself at old age, sacrifice his only son, etc. God even said in Genesis 18:19 (KJV), “For I know him, that he will command his children and his house after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD…” God so blessed him that his seed are still enjoying from that blessing and will continue to enjoy it till the end of this world.
How seriously do you take God’s commandments? If you haven’t been taking His commandments seriously, please do well to have a change of heart for your decisions today goes beyond you but affects your unborn children and so many generations to come. King Solomon summarised all that life is all about in Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV), “… Fear God and keep his commandments: for this is the whole obligation of man.”
Prayer: Father, I receive grace to keep Godly fear ever fresh in my life in Jesus name.
