Bible Reading: Psalm 113,114,115; 1 Corinthians 7:1-22
“Ye are bought with a price; be not ye servants of men” 1 Corinthians 7:23 (KJV)
The value of a thing in terms of the price paid in exchange for it tells you how valuable that thing is. Humans are the most valuable thing to God; He values man so much He is so mindful of man. He Himself said all souls belong to Him (Ezekiel 18:4). He knows our frame and always deals with us mercifully. Angels knows how God feels about unsaved souls; No wonder Jesus tells us that angels rejoice in heaven whenever a soul is saved. they know the Father rejoices when a soul is saved (Luke 15:10).
The biggest price was paid to bring us out of bondage into freedom to serve the only true God. Jesus’ sinless blood was needed to redeem man from sin and death into life in God. But many do not really understand the sacrifice behind this exchange. God, the only wise God, had to send His Son and put the whole sin of man on him. As He died and arose from the grave, man’s sins were buried with Him and His resurrection brought us to a newness of life. As you believe in His death and resurrection, and accept Him as Lord and saviour, you become one with Him, and automatically a servant of God.
However, a lot of people do not take this option of servanthood seriously. Life is all about service; either to God or the devil. But you are saved to serve. You are no longer under the devil, neither are you yours alone. Your choice to obey God or not is a choice of life and death. Your decision to obey Jesus or not in your service shows whose side you belong. Romans 6:16 (KJV) says, “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” Life and death is now in your hands; just a decision away.
Service to God is a choice. It is a decision of life and death (Deuteronomy 30:19-20). Joshua made this point known to the congregation in the wilderness in Joshua 24:15. He advised them to choose life. God has given us that life in His Son, Jesus. All you need is to commit your life in service to Him and you will live a fulfilled life on earth.
Prayer: Father, I receive grace to serve you continually till the end in Jesus name.
