Bible Reading; Psalm 119:89-176; 1 Corinthians 8
“But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and One Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him” 1 Corinthians 8:6 (KJV)
God is the reason why we are here today. He is the reason for my existence. He created each and every man for a purpose. The purpose of your being on this earth is first to serve Him in return and be a blessing to your world. However, not many are aware of the purpose of their existence here on earth, and “when purpose is not known,” says Dr Myles Munroe, “abuse is inevitable.” A lot of people are mis-using the life God gave them.
The fall of man may be attributed as the reason behind the improper use of the gift of life God gave man. Man fell short spiritually and physically; he became captive to the devil. Captivity brings ignorance because the captive will only be exposed to things his captor wants him to know. When lack of knowledge of who you are and why you are here persist, destruction is around the corner. Hosea 4:6a (KJV) says, “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” The aim of the enemy is to steal, kill and eventually destroy man, God’s masterpiece creation.
That is where Jesus came in fully. He has always been there with God in the beginning of creation. Colossians 1:16a (NLT) says, “Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth.” He understands fully well His Father’s love for man. So, He humbly submitted Himself as ransom in exchange for the stolen man so that he can live his original purpose here on earth. That purpose, according to King Solomon, is to “Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV). Remember, it was disobedience that led to man’s predicament in the first place.
To live a life in God sustainably you need Jesus. The life you have now has been given to you by Him. So, you can only live through Him. Acknowledge Him as your Lord and Saviour continually. Settle down and digest all He has done for you and begin to live a victorious life in Christ from the knowledge of Him.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank You for making Your word, the manual of life, available to me. Increase my thirst and cravings for Your word and thank You for giving me understanding.
