BIBLE Reading: Psalm 128,129,130; 1 Corinthians 11:1-17
“If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.” Psalm 130:3-4 (KJV)
Before I came into contact with this scripture (memory verse) as a newly born-again Christian I often wondered how God does it keeping record of, not only my sins but that of the whole world. Although I was told that He has forgiven me of my sins yet I continued in some of the things I used to do until, gradually I began to grow and by the help of the Holy Spirit began to understand the scriptures in areas that deals with God’s mercy, forgiveness of sins and living a life above sin.
A lot of people are so burdened with the consciousness of the sin they have committed that they find it difficult to move on in life. Yes, it is good to feel it in your heart whenever you fall short of bringing Him glory but remaining there beating yourself up will do you no good at all. As long as you are in the flesh mistakes will happen, whether consciously or not. But when you get the nudge from the Holy Spirit, confess your sin and ask for mercy immediately. The bible says in Proverbs 28:13 (KJV), “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
God is more willing to forgive you than you can ever imagine if only you will repent of your sin and never go back to them. He forgave David, who confessed his sin and showed remorse after he had murdered a man and committed adultery. in fact, his son, Solomon, came from the same woman whose husband David murdered. He forgave Paul and even empowered him to become a preacher. Psalm 103:10-14 (KJV) says, “He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. [11] For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. [12] As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. [13] Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear Him. [14] For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.”
God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins and settled the sin problem once and for all. If you are yet to come to this saving grace, you need to meet with Jesus today. For those who have met with Jesus and still make mistakes, confess your sins before Him and ask God for mercy, engage the helper in you, the Holy Spirit, and if possible, speak with a mature Christian for advice lest Satan starts taking advantage of your ignorance in that area of sin, forgiveness and mercy of God.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your mercy and forgiveness of sin. Thank you for the grace to live above sin.
