BIBLE READING : Psalm 140; 141;142; 1Corinthians 14:1-20
“Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men” 1 Corinthians 14:20 (KJV).
Spiritual understanding is key to effective walk with God. So many Christians display immaturity in their Christian life. Spiritual understanding reflects in our attitude to the word of God, in our prayer life, in our relationships in our conversations and communications. Malice, envy, strive, jealousy, greed, lust, unhealthy competition and comparison are all symptoms of lack of spiritual understanding. To be men in understanding is to be matured in understanding. The result is godliness with contentment, victory over Satan and his cohorts, standing trials and overcoming temptations.
A Christian with spiritual understanding is patient with God and with people and does not easily pick offence when there is a delay. Temperance is also a product of spiritual understanding. Lack of spiritual understanding leads to gullibility and deception.
One with spiritual understanding commits to God and to his word. He does not look at others to commit. He serves God with gladness and not grudgingly. Commitment to the word and prayer will lead to development of the spirit and soul to enhance spiritual understanding.
Prayer : Lord grant me spiritual understanding in Jesus name.
