BIBLE READING: Proverb 3, 4, 5; 2 Corinthians 1
“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold” Proverb 3:13-14 (KJV).
Happiness is one essential virtue in life that has eluded many. In search of true and lasting happiness, many people get trapped in wrong relationships while some become addicted to some harmful habits and substances. Wisdom and understanding are keys to true and lasting happiness. King Solomon is a practical example of one who sought for happiness in the wrong things and wrong places. In search of happiness, he explored fame, wealth, pleasure and knowledge to no avail.
“Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity” Ecclesiastes 1:2 (KJV). True and lasting happiness come from a vital relationship and intimacy with God. When God takes his rightful place in the life of a man, all things will begin to fall in their proper places. This wisdom and understanding are the secret of true and lasting happiness. This will bring the fear of God and hatred for sin in the person’s life. Anyone who pushes God aside to chat a course of happiness can never be truly happy.
Prayer: Thank you Lord for making me truly happy.
